Project 2
E-Learning 3.0
During the academic year of 2014-2015, College of Education and Allied Studies (CEAS) at CSUEB offered an E-learning 3.0 grant to motivate its faculty’s thoughtful planning in integration of technology to enhance teaching and learning. I was awarded and ready to embark on the complex process toward implementing digital learning. The grant project supported me to work with an instructional technology staff who is an expert in Mondopad, a giant touch screen tablet.
With the 1:1 training approach, I am now very proficient with the technology, especially the two-way video conferencing features for teaching distance learners in two sites. I also had a few chances to show how to use the technology to faculty members in Department of Teacher Education. After showing the faculty members, they were able to use the technology to do basic navigation of the programs available in the tool and integrate the tool into their instruction. Personally, I also use the technology to supplement my teaching. My graduate students have been enjoying the additional demonstration of my instructional materials in Mondopad along with the regular computer projection system in a smart classroom. For example, in the past year, a remote student who lives 70 miles away from campus thanked me very much for implementing such technology.
